jMonkeyEngine is a finalist in PacktPub – Say what!?

You heard it right. jMonkeyEngine is an Open Source Graphics Software Finalist in PacktPub‘s annual Open Source Awards. Sorry about the link-fest, but we figure this might be uncharted lands for our usual target audience.

It started as a simple “check this out” on the community forum. To be frank, I was not very hopeful, and it didn’t seem like the community picked up on it either. Yet somehow, here we are.

So a big thank you to all who nominated jMonkeyEngine for PacktPub in the Open Source Graphics Software category!

TerraMonkey GeoMipMapping in action

TerraMonkey GeoMipMapping

JME3′s new terrain system, TerraMonkey, has been released in alpha version for the public to use and abuse.

Features include GeoMipMapping, texture splatting in shaders, and a new Terrain API for the upcoming terrain editor to interact with.

You can find an example in the source code called TerrainTest.java
